The goal of the Avalanche Warning Service is to optimise avalanche protection and prevention in areas affected by the natural disaster of avalanches.

The responsibilities of the Avalanche Warning Service range from maintaining a measurement and observation network to providing information to insurance companies, tourist organisations etc.
