The State of Vorarlberg on the Internet

The regions around Lake Constance have cultivated a wide range of cross-border contacts over many years. This is due to the centuries of common history (up to the late Middle Ages the Lake Constance region was politically united), the common cultural background and the geographical openness of the region.

The aim of ARGE ALP is, on the basis of cross border collaboration, to highlight joint problems and interests particularly in the ecological, cultural, social and economic field and to develop solutions accordingly, to promote mutual understanding between the peoples in the Alpine region and to reinforce the consciousness of a common responsibility for the Alpine environment.

Founded in 1985, the Assembly of European Regions is the political forum and the representative organisation of the European regions working for democracy, solidarity and the development of interregional cooperation on the whole of the European continent.

The State of Vorarlberg has cultivated a wide range of contacts to other regions for many years now. The cross border exchange takes place on the bilateral and multilateral levels. Particularly in the Lake Constance region, which enjoys brisk cross-border relationships both private and corporate, coordination is often also needed at the administration and government levels.
