With the community initiative INTERREG III A (2000 - 2006) the EU is promoting cross-border cooperation between neighbouring regions with finance from the European Fund for Regional Development (EFRD). Vorarlberg, parts of Baden-Württemberg (Lake Constance region, Schwarzwald-Baar district and the districts of Constance, Ravensburg, Sigmaringen, Tuttlingen, Waldshut) and Bavaria (regional districts Lindau, Oberallgäu and Kempten), Swiss cantons (Aargau, Appenzell Außerrhoden, Appenzell Innerrhoden, Glarus, Graubünden, Schaffhausen, St. Gallen, Thurgau, Zürich) and Liechtenstein are participating in the INTERREG III A program Alpenrhein-Bodensee-Hochrhein. Funding is granted for cross-border projects in the fields of economic development, environmental and regional development and socio-cultural development.
